If you are looking for a paediatric nursing role where you can combine your acute nursing skills whilst working in the community then please read on!

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the team continuing to deliver SACT  on a mobile cancer care unit.  This first in the UK service has been running successfully for 2 months and is fully funded to complete the pilot for an extended 8 month period.  This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced paediatric chemotherapy nurse to provide care for patients undergoing treatment for haematology/Oncology conditions closer to home.

The band 6 nurse will be responsible for assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating family centred care in line with the project. The pilot will be delivering SACT treatments on a Mobile cancer care unit.

You must have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team, able to recognise limitations in line with using initiative.

The post holder will need to have access to a car and hold a full driver’s license.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for a caseload and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, plan implement and evaluate the care for patients in the care closer to home programme.

The post holder will provide direct patient care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist area. The post holder will ensure that high standards of quality of care are delivered & maintained. The post holder will act as a positive role model within the department and in the community for staff patients and carers.

They will effectively contribute to the care closer to home project and ensure the provision meets the needs of the patients and families.

The post holder will enable nurses to acquire clinical and professional competencies by facilitating high quality education and staff development opportunities

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

What is a DBS Check?

A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:

Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.

Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. ### Experience

**Essential**

- Substantial relevant port registration experience within relevant clinical setting.
- Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice .
- Evidence of multi-disciplinary/multi-agency working.

- Experience of clinical audit.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- First level Registration - RN (Child)/RSCN
- Post basic evidence of study
- Post registration experience in Haematology/Oncology
- Evidence of Level 6 studies
- Qualified to function as mentor for pre-registration students
- 12 months SACT administration and IV competent
- Hold a full drivers license access to a car with business insurance

**Desirable**

- Further study in relevant specialty
- Appropriate management or leadership courses
