Please see below for detailed job description of the role. ### Main duties of the job An exciting opportunity has become available in our Eye Short Stay Unit for a Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse position. Eye Short Stay Unit is a 24/7 Unit, providing pre and post operative care to elective and emergency ophthalmic surgical patients, and host 4 inpatient beds. In an exciting new development for the service, we now provide out of hours ophthalmic emergency care overnight. We require the successful candidate to work flexibly including days and nights, weekends and bank holidays to meet service demand. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who demonstrates great professionalism, shows developing leadership skills and a desire to be a part of innovation and emerging pathways and process. The right candidate will be integral to the growth of the team and the service. You will be a clinical role model and support the senior team in a managerial role, undertaking probations, IPRs, roster and HR related tasks. Eye Short Stay Unit is a dynamic department that continues to change and develop. This requires the successful applicant to be flexible, forward thinking and able to motivate your peers. The ability to supervise, teach and empower staff is crucial to this role. You will be a visible and accountable presence to whom staff, patients and their families can turn to for expert leadership, advice and support. Ophthalmic experience is not required, as training can be provided.
