There are 3 foundation doctors and a trauma coordinator nurse who will assist with ward duties. Each day there is a consultant ward round of new admissions and all the remaining orthopaedic patients are seen by a middle grade or consultant each day. There is also a designated orthogeriatric team to assist in the management of patients over 65. There are no night on-call commitments with this post although the post holder will be required to do ward duty in the morning on every third weekend from 08:00 – 17:00 The post holder will work with all the consultants within the department which means that they will gain exposure to all the above areas of specialisation. The post holder will deputise, so far as is practicable, for absent colleagues. They will be required to undertake such exceptional irregular commitments outside normal hours as are essential for continuity of patient care, and duty in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
