Care is delivered to patients in their own homes or clinic setting in accordance with protocols and guidelines. You will be expected to mentor community staff nurses during training for administration of IV Therapy. ### Main duties of the job To perform peripheral cannulation and venepuncture in accordance with established protocols. To perform port-a-cath procedures according to established protocols. To act as an assessor to district nurses in the assessment of the administration of intravenous antibiotics. To provide clinical support and advice to the patient and district nurses in the absence of the IV Team Leader. e.g. during holidays, study leave. To work alongside the district nurse teams to support them in providing intravenous therapy within the patients home environment. To work under the direction of the IV Team Leader. To work within Trust policies and guidelines and follow the intravenous therapy patient care pathways. To provide a safe, seamless transition of care by using a multi-disciplinary approach to care. To work without direct supervision of the IV Team Leader in the patients own environment and also within a clinic setting. Reporting to the IV Team Leader.
