### Job overview

The Children and Young People’s Eating Disorders Day Service is recruiting two Band 3 Support Workers based at Corporation Street in Stafford. These are permanent positions, each working 37.5 hours per week.

The service provides specialist, intensive, evidence-based support for children and young people with moderate to severe eating disorders. It is designed to deliver flexible, person-centred care tailored to the individual needs of each young person.

In this role, you will work closely with children, young people, and their families, supporting their mental health and wellbeing. You will deliver direct care to those attending the Day Hospital Service, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery, support engagement in therapeutic programmes, and help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for service users and their families.

### Main duties of the job

- Support young people with daily routines, mealtimes, and structured therapeutic activities.
- Provide practical and emotional support to young people and families in line with individual care plans.
- Assist in therapeutic groups and psychoeducational sessions under the supervision of qualified staff.
- Promote recovery, independence, and positive coping strategies.
- Observe, monitor, and report any changes in presentation, behaviour, or physical health to senior staff.
- Contribute to creating a therapeutic and safe environment.

- Understanding of children and young people’s mental health and eating disorder difficulties.
- Awareness of safeguarding policies and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, families, and professionals

- Knowledge of recovery-focused approaches
- Awareness of risk management in relation to eating disorders

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Training in mental health, safeguarding, or child development
