Join the Information Governance (IG) Team at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and play a key role in helping us protect information, support colleagues and maintain high standards of governance across the organisation.

As an Information Governance Advisor, you will provide specialist guidance that enables staff to manage information responsibly, confidently and in line with legal and regulatory requirements. Your work will help ensure that information is used safely and effectively to support excellent patient care and organisational performance.

### Main duties of the job

As an Information Governance Advisor, you will support the effective delivery and continuous development of information governance services across the Trust.

Key responsibilities include:

- Providing clear, practical advice and guidance to staff on information governance, data protection and information-sharing matters.
- Managing requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection legislation, including Data Subject Access Requests.
- Working collaboratively with partner organisations to support information governance compliance and best practice.
- Supporting the Trust's annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit submission by gathering evidence and providing assurance information.
- Conducting data protection audits and assisting with the identification and implementation of improvements.
- Undertaking the initial review and investigation of information governance incidents reported through the Trust's internal reporting systems.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to monitoring reports, compliance activities and governance assurance processes.
- Promoting awareness of information governance responsibilities and supporting the delivery of related initiatives across the organisation.

The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Specialist expertise in Freedom of Information Act 2000 legislation
- Expertise in Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR legislation
- Understanding of complex public sector organisation and effective partnership working
- An understanding of NHS legislation, governance frameworks and standards
- Understanding and knowledge of records management
- Understanding and knowledge of confidentiality guidance (Caldicott)
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Experience of handling and responding to FOI and Data Protection queries
- Experience of successfully engaging and working with a range of staff and members of the public.
- Previous experience of working in a public facing team within the healthcare sector
- Experience of planning and delivering training sessions to multidisciplinary groups

**Desirable**

- Familiarity with incident reporting and investigation methods
- Project Management qualification
- Experience of use of clinical systems for records extraction and auditing.

### Education/ Qualification

**Essential**

- Degree level education or previous relevant experience in an Information Governance related field
- ISEB qualification in FOI and /or DPA or equivalent.
- Evidence of recent and ongoing CPD / learning in DPA / FOI / Information Governance

**Desirable**

- GDPR Practitioner Certificate
