Please see below for a detailed job description of the role. ### Main duties of the job We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in infection prevention and control to join our Infection Prevention Team at UHS. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual with an interest in infection prevention and control to work within a friendly, experienced team to gain specialist knowledge and experience in infection prevention and control. You will work as part of the Infection Prevention Team in the provision of an Infection Prevention and Control Service within UHS. This service incorporates the prevention, surveillance, investigation and control of infection within UHS. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities ### As a member of the team, you will: ### Experience/skills: - Provide advice to all disciplines and grades of staff on infection prevention and control. - Participate in the infection prevention clinical advisory service, including infection incident and outbreak investigation and management. - Support one of the three clinical Divisions to facilitate improvements in IP&C practice - Participate in audit, surveillance, education and training, quality improvement projects & initiatives. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic individual who will join the infection prevention team and lead by example. A registered practitioner (NMC/HCPC), with post-registration experience. Recent experience must have been at band 5. You must have recent evidence of interest in infection prevention & control and change management in practice and effective teaching skills. You must be able to work independently and within a team. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and time management skills. The Trust has clear priorities for improving patient safety and delivering a positive patient experience by reducing healthcare-associated infections across the Trust. This role is important for our patients and staff, with a Trust-wide remit supporting the delivery of the infection prevention clinical advisory service and delivery of the infection prevention improvement programmes and plans. We are committed to supporting the provision of evidence-based care by leading trust-wide improvements in practice and identifying and promoting innovations which will drive further improvements in infection prevention practice, and are in the unique position of having a clinical academic specialist within the team to support this. The Infection Prevention team covers services at the main Southampton General Hospital and Princess Anne Hospital Sites, its services within the Royal South Hants Hospital, New Forest Birthing Centre, and Lymington Hospital and to the HIOW air ambulance service. ## Person Specification ### Qualifications, knowledge and experience **Essential** - A registered practitioner (NMC/HCPC), with post registration experience.
