### Job overview

Our innovative and dynamic Immunisation teams are dedicated to improving immunisation uptake and delivering the national evidence-based Schools’ Immunisation Programmes.

The team visits several schools across the county every day, so you would be likely to visit a different school each day during school term time and carry out catch-up clinics during the school holidays. We currently offer HPV and Teenage booster vaccinations in secondary schools and nasal spray and injectable flu vaccinations to eligible cohorts within schools. We also offer the neonatal BCG programme and other immunisations, such as MMR .

Whilst Core hours start at 08.00 occasional earlier start for packing vaccines is required (approximately once per week).

### Main duties of the job

The ideal candidates will deliver a high quality immunisation service within a variety of settings in the community working with patients and other partners to increase immunisation rates. They will also participate in the day to day immunisation sessions/clinics determined by the Clinical Lead and when required, motivate people to have immunisations.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- a  To facilitate the smooth running of vaccination sessions in schools clinics, mobile and home settings. b  To administer vaccinations to children and young people in line with local and national guidance Demonstrate effective time management by prioritisation and delegation of patient care, promoting continuity whenever possible and working in collaboration within the Immunisation Team. Demonstrate commitment to continual professional development, participating in clinical supervision and working within NMC code, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust policies, and relevant national immunisation standards demonstrating awareness of personal accountability for own actions.

Demonstrate a high standard of clinical information collation and documentation, adhering to Trust and national guidelines pertaining to the collection and storage of data.

To attend all mandatory and statutory training including infection prevention and control.  The Trust is committed to delivering a higher standard of customer care and therefore it is compulsory to ensure that you have undergone induction training within 3 months of your appointment.

- Timescales for meeting standards of performance relating to the duties and responsibilities identified in this job description will be agreed with the postholder via the annual appraisal process and the relevant KSF outline. As directed by the Clinical Service Lead and as required, respond to outbreak situations which require immunisations to be delivered as part of the incident management of the Health Protection Agency. To carry out risk assessments and adhere to safe systems of work. This includes understanding and adhering to the reporting procedures for clinical and non-clinical incidents/near misses. To take a proactive role in contributing to risk identification and management and be responsive to lessons learnt from incidents and near misses. Proactively manages risk to vulnerable adults. Responsible for mentoring students and junior staff.

### Experience

**Desirable**

- Experience in a community setting
- Experience of working with Children / Young people

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- RN/M qualification / degree or diploma
- Evidence of a range of clinical competencies

**Desirable**

- Completion of Immunisation training that reflects HPA standards

### Other Requirements

**Essential**

- Ability to travel between sites, care owner/driver, with access to a vehicle for work purposes

### Skills and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- A clear understanding of the role of immunisations and public health
- IT literate or willing to achieve with an agreed period
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge/understanding of boundaries of role
