We are looking for someone to join our portering team at the Becton Centre for Children & Young People. You’ll help move equipment, documentation, specimens, and safely dispose of waste, and help maintain the safety and security of the building, respond to emergency calls, and ensure all areas are safe for patients, staff, and visitors.

### Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Hotel Service Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

Portering & Logistics: Collect, dispose of, and deliver waste, food, linen, and supplies. Help with patient transfers, deliveries, and ad-hoc furniture moves. Maintain external paths and bins.

Security & Safety: Monitor CCTV, respond to security issues, manage door access, and assist with emergency "blick" calls, ensuring building safety.

Estates & Maintenance: Report maintenance needs, perform minor repairs (e.g., lamp changing, tap testing), and assist with inspections, fire safety checks, and contractor support.

Housekeeping & Other Tasks: Help with cleaning and sports hall maintenance. Deputise for the Hotel Services Supervisor, overseeing staff, supplies, and vending machine management.

- First Aid at Work Level 2
