We are seeking an experienced and motivated Specialist Podiatrist (Band 7) to lead and coordinate podiatry services for hard to reach populations within Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH).

This is a unique opportunity to deliver high quality, person centred podiatric care to individuals who face significant barriers to accessing healthcare. The post holder will act as a key link practitioner between the Homeless Health Service and Podiatry Service, supporting continuity of care and improving access to appropriate services.

The role involves autonomous assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with a wide range of complex podiatric and medical conditions, including high risk and at risk foot care. The post holder will also provide specialist advice, education and support to colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Working in partnership with internal teams and external organisations, including community services, GPs, hostels and outreach centres, you will contribute to reducing health inequalities and promoting inclusion within healthcare services. The post holder will also play a key role in safeguarding vulnerable adults and young people, working closely with social care and partner agencies to ensure safe and effective care, to work flexibly across three London boroughs: Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, and Hammersmith & Fulham.

- Act as a specialist podiatry expert, providing clinical leadership, support and education to the podiatry team and wider multidisciplinary network.
- Work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure continuity of care and improve access to services for hard to reach populations, promoting inclusion and reducing health inequalities.

- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans, utilising a range of evidence based interventions for patients, including those in high risk and at risk categories.
- Provide specialist care and management for patients with complex needs, including those with diabetes, substance misuse issues, chronic neuropathy, long term conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, wound care and tissue viability concerns, and HIV.
- Work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams, social care and external agencies to support safeguarding of vulnerable adults and young people, ensuring safe, effective and person centred care.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Knowledge of recent developments in the profession
- Full knowledge of podiatric theory and practice
- Knowledge of foot orthotic design and manufacture
- Knowledge of RCOP code of conduct
- Awareness of Equal Opportunities – theory and practice
- Understanding of Clinical Governance -theory and practice
- Knowledge of treatment options and skills required in the management of High risk tissue breakdown
- Up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues and developments in treatment
- Ability to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments. e.g. in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds and nail surgery
- To be competent in the use of treatment and diagnostic tools (including, Doppler, scalpel techniques, syringe etc)

**Desirable**

- Presentation Skills / Experience at delivering Health Promotion
- Ability to manufacture simple insoles

### Experience

**Essential**

- Post graduate clinical experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working
- Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease / pathology types including the at-risk and high-risk foot

### Key Attributes

**Essential**

- Ability to cope with a busy demanding and varied workload able to cope with the demands of moving between sessional clinics, on foot, by transport. This may include carriage of clinical equipment on home visits.
- Performing clinical treatments in physically restricted work positions requiring repetitive fine movements.
- - Ability to cope with patients anxieties and employ tactical techniques in order to help support patients and allay anxieties.

### Qualifications

- BSc Degree In Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior 1991)

- Registration with the Health Professions Council
- Certificate in local anaesthesia
- Evidence or Portfolio of Post Grad Continued Development to Master accredited level Evidence of extended study into specialist care
