We are looking for a motivated, adaptable and enthusiastic team player to join our Therapy Team within the Surgical and Amputee Service in a 0.6 WTE permanent position. The role includes cross-cover across Vascular, Amputee and Surgical wards, alongside participation in the weekend service, offering the opportunity to work within a dynamic and specialist acute setting.

The Royal London Hospital is offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to work in a specialist role focusing on the advanced assessment, treatment and clinical management of patients with vascular conditions, patients following surgery, and those undergoing major amputation rehabilitation.

The successful candidate will have a passion for Occupational Therapy, excellent communication skills, and the initiative and enthusiasm to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

At Barts Health, we offer a robust teaching and training programme, with opportunities to lead and participate in Quality Improvement and Audit projects. We provide a supportive and engaging environment in which therapists are encouraged to develop and grow professionally. As a Band 7 Occupational Therapist, you will also have the opportunity to further develop your leadership, supervisory and management skills through supporting junior therapists, students and therapy support workers.

To play a major and specialist role in the advanced assessment, treatment and clinical management of patients with vascular disease, and patients pre and post major amputation.  Determining clinical diagnosis, functional deficits and occupational treatment program required.

To be dynamic in developing efficient and effective occupational therapy working processes to assist in producing a fully multi-professional team approach.

To work with the Clinical Lead Therapist to develop the service to best meet changing health and social care agendas.

The post is responsible for a team of staff in their clinical area and may be required to work in more than one speciality area.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Advanced knowledge of occupational therapy assessment and intervention and discharge planning within Surgical, Vascular and Amputee populations
- Knowledge of current evidence-based practice, national guidance and NHS priorities.
- Understanding of clinical governance, risk management and safeguarding principles.

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of service improvement methodologies or outcome measures relevant to Vascular/Amputee/ Surgical therapy services

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience as a senior OT balancing complex caseload with non clinical demands
- Extensive post graduate inpatient experience across a range of acute/rehab settings including vascular and amputee and surgical (elective abdominal surgery, HPB, elective orthopaedics, elective gynae oncology) patients
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience contributing to audit, service development and quality improvement initiatives
- Experience supervising, supporting and developing staff and students
- Experience supervising and appraising staff
- Documented evidence of CPD, in accordance with HCPC recommendations

**Desirable**

- Experience working in a transdisciplinary therapy team
- Experience participating in research activities.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with Health Professions Council.

**Desirable**

- Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) or relevant specialist interest group.
