Band 7 Occupational therapist - Elderly care wards and DRU ward (Department of Medicine for Older People, DMOP)

Full-time (pls see information regarding flexible working)

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Northwick Park Hospital site of London North West University Hospitals NHS Trust to help lead the DMOP Therapy team within the acute Trust.

The successful applicant will lead a team (including Band 5 and 6  therapists and therapy technicians) on one of the DMOP wards. The caseload comprises a variety of different complex physical and cognitive conditions.

The applicant will need considerable clinical experience in the acute setting, as well as experience of managing other staff and students. Strong interpersonal skills will be required as well as the ability to lead a team and the drive and enthusiasm to develop the service.

The successful applicant will be supported by the Therapy Team lead, and a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will have a commitment to our rostered weekend service

he successful applicant will need to:

- Have extensive experience as a band 6 in acute  settings
- Enjoy the excitement of working in a fast pace environment and enthusiasm for service development
- Have managerial experience

Cross site working might be required.

### Main duties of the job

- As an autonomous practitioner to assess and treat own complex case load and provide a specialist Occupational Therapy service to patients.
- To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), assessing and treating patients with complex physical and cognitive needs and maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records.
- To work closely with the clinical leads to support the development of the OT and DMOP services.
- To contribute to the management of all aspects of the DMOP Inpatient Service. This includes prioritising and organising all referrals to the DMOP service and allocation of patients.
- To be a member of the team working as part of the rostered 7 day DMOP service
- To be responsible for the development and appraisal of the team members, including Band 5, 6 OTs, Physiotherapists, therapy technicians and students.
- To regularly provide formal and informal, on-going training and education to OT staff, other healthcare professions and students.
- To engage in own continued professional development (CPD) and service development.
- To participate in clinical audit and research within the team.
