Band 6/7 Role Depending on Experience - (Support will be provided from B6 to B7 once competencies are achieved)

To work as a member of the multidisciplinary diabetes team at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton, with potential for cross site working within the diabetes dietetic team at St George's Hospital. To be responsible for providing a highly specialist dietetic service to diabetic  outpatients; following evidence based practice, being an active multidisciplinary team member, providing education, developing nutrition policies and guidelines, participating in audit and research related to diabetes in order to improve health outcomes and develop the role and service.

### Main duties of the job

This is a face-to face outpatient role at Queen Mary's Hospital Roehampton, providing nutritional management and specialist diabetes education to adults with Type 1 and complex Type 2 diabetes. You should have advanced knowledge and experience of diabetes dietetics.

The role involves working with diabetes technology including CGM devices, insulin pumps and hybrid-closed loop systems.

Education is provided to patients in a one-to-one and group setting.

The postholder works closely within the multi-disciplinary team but also requires autonomous working and the ability to problem solve independently.

There is also potential for cross site working within the Thomas Addison Unit Diabetes Team at St George's Hospital.

This is a part-time post of 22.5hours per week and flexible working hours may be agreed.

- Able to respond to unpredictable work patterns and frequent interruptions
- Able to maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders
- Membership of British Dietetic Association or other body conferring professional indemnity insurance

### Skills

- Excellent oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Working at Masters level or equivalent in speciality area
- Knowledge of dietetics within the NHS

### Experience

**Essential**

- Postgraduate experience of working in acute and/or community dietetic services at a specialist level
- Experience of undertaking clinical audit/research in relevant clinical area
- Experience in the clinical supervision of students/junior staff
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Experience in teaching and education to patient groups and healthcare professionals in relevant clinical area

**Desirable**

- Significant clinical experience of working in diabetes including insulin pumps

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- BSc / Post graduate diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
- HCPC current registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development

**Desirable**

- Postgraduate training in diabetes
- Membership of BDA and Diabetes Specialist Group (DSG)
- DAFNE or BERTIE trained
