We are a multidisciplinary team providing a mental health service to children, young people and their families. The service has well-established links with our partner agencies including Education, Children’s Social Care (CSC) and Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organizations, and as a locality well on the way to being fully aligned to the Thrive approach to delivering mental health services. We are committed to supporting our staff in their development with great access to CPD opportunities, a robust clinical and management supervision structure, and access to an in-house training programme covering key areas of clinical practice as part of your induction. T&G CAMHS is extremely proud to be a forward-thinking service with a long history of innovative service development. Examples include being home to the long-established Early Attachment Service (now Parent Infant Mental Health Service; PIMHS) which is a nationally recognised, specialist under 5 service. Recent investment has also supported the establishment of a highly innovative relationship-focussed and trauma-informed therapeutic service (The Family Intervention and Therapy Service; FITS) working in partnership with Children’s Social Care at all levels of the Early Help/Child in Need/ Child Protection Framework. ### Main duties of the job We are looking to recruit a band 8a (or band 7 preceptorship into 8a) Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologists into our service. This is an exciting opportunity to work in Core CAMHS, potentially across a range of pathways, supporting the development of both generic and specialist clinical psychology skills. We would be keen to hear from applicants who would be interested in a preceptorship post starting on a band 7 with a move to 8a after a period of experience and development in the post, which is supported by a Trust-level framework and process. This would suit newly or recently qualified clinical psychologists. To undertake direct assessment and intervention with our children, young people and their families and to supervise that provided by other staff within the multi-disciplinary team. To contribute to the provision of risk assessment and management as part of the core CAMHS duty offer. To offer training and consultation both internally and externally to our partner agencies. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the team. To utilise skills for audit, service evaluation and service development as appropriate. Registration with the HCPC and previous CAMHS experience is essential for this role. The successful candidate will need to be an excellent communicator and enjoy team and multi-disciplinary working. Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and young people and mental health. - Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS. - Formal training in supervision of other psychologists. **Desirable** - Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies for children and young people - Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies. - Experience of working within a multicultural framework. ### Experience **Essential** - Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist (with demonstrable experience at a specialist level). - Experience of working with children and young people presenting with the full range of clinical severity across a wide range of care settings severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse. -
