An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist - CRM (Cardiac Rhythm Management) to join the Cardiac Physiology team at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cardiac Physiologist with expertise in CRM to support the delivery and development of our cardiac device service. The successful candidate will play a key role in the follow-up, assessment, and optimisation of patients with implantable cardiac devices, including pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

As a highly specialist practitioner, you will work closely with consultant cardiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to service improvement, quality assurance, and the delivery of high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac services. The role offers opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills while supporting a growing and innovative CRM service.

### Main duties of the job

As a Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist (CRM), you will provide expert assessment, follow-up, and optimisation of patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices, including pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices. You will independently manage complex device clinics, identify and respond to device-related issues and clinically significant arrhythmias, and work closely with consultant cardiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and timely patient care.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will play a key role in service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives, helping to shape and enhance the future delivery of Cardiac Rhythm Management services. Responsibilities will also include supporting the training, supervision, and development of junior staff and trainees, contributing to a positive learning environment and maintaining high standards of patient-centred care across the service.

### Skills & Abilities

**Essential**

- Evidence of training and supporting staff working towards individual BSE/BHRS accreditation.
- Evidence of ability to perform complex device implantation and follow-up
- Evidence of ability to assist with diagnostic cardiac catheterisation and PCI
- Knowledge and understanding of NHS structure, organisational policies and current developments in the NHS

**Desirable**

- Evidence of ability to respond quickly to changing priorities and ability to work to meet deadlines
- The ability to liaise confidently & effectively with other disciplines internally within the Trust and externally
- Evidence of Quality Assurance and Clinical Governance practice
- Evidence of ability to develop systems to promote efficient and effective working within the team
- Evidence of innovative work undertaken within the speciality.

### Knowledge & Experience

**Essential**

- Demonstrate significant experience at Senior Cardiac Physiologist level or above in CRM device implant and follow up.
- Evidence of expertise in managing complex CRM programming
- Minimum of 3yrs post qualification
- Evidence of continuing professional development commitment

**Desirable**

- Evidence of contributing towards service Development initiatives (i.e. new technology, SoP’s, research, training and education)
- Experience of using high value equipment and knowledge of pacemaker prescription
- Experience of remote monitoring in CRM services
- Evidence of ability to assist with diagnostic monitoring during cardiac catheterisation and PCI

### Education, Qualification & Training

**Essential**

- BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or recognised UK equivalent (BTEC or HNC MPPM)
- ILS Certificate
- BHRS Accreditation or IBHRE Certification
- Professional registration (RCCP, AHCS, HCPC)
