The individual must hold a BSE TTE level 2 accreditation or equivalent and has relevant NHS experience in cardiac physiology field. The individual will work alongside the team of 7 other accredited echocardiographers and with the wider cardiac physiology team to perform transthoracic echocardiograms as well as assist with stress and transoesophageal echocardiograms. As a teaching hospital the successful candidate will be expected to support our trainee echocardiographers to achieve their BSE accreditation. The echo service is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays and also provides inpatient/outpatient weekend service. The individual will be expected to participate in this comprehensive service whilst a flexible working pattern can be supported. ### Main duties of the job The post holder will be expected to: Demonstrate expertise in echocardiography ensuring that the service model provides demonstrably high-quality patient care within clinical gudielines. Closely liaise with medical staff to assist patients management if required based on echo findings. Participate in the local echo MDT discussions. Provide educational presentations in the field of echo to colleagues Assist clinicians in running the advanced echo services such as stress, TOE, contrast and bubbles echocardiograms Demonstrate working knowledge of the full range of investigations. Demonstrate leadership qualities, provide support to junior team members and carry out organisational and supervisory duties. Demonstrate a professional approach to patient care and be able to communicate with patients clearly. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service. ## Person Specification ### Education **Essential** - BSc Cardiac science/physiology (or equivalent Life Sciences subject) - BSE or equivalent qualification in echocardiography - Registered with ACHS/PTP equivalence **Desirable** - Postgraduate qualification (MSc)/ eligible for STP equivalence ### Experience **Essential** - Substantial (+2yrs) post BSc qualification experience as a Cardiac Physiologist/echocardiographer - Good understanding of echocardiography techniques with independent ability to report scans to a high standard.
