Exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within the Cardiorespiratory department of York Hospital and the community diagnostic centres (CDC) of Selby and Askham Bar, performing transthoracic echocardiography, stress echocardiograms, transoesophageal echocardiography and supporting junior staff / training / mentoring. Managing the echocardiography service collaboratively with colleagues.

The department within York Hospital delivers inpatient and outpatient echocardiography, consultant led stress echocardiography, scientist led stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography and scientist led valve clinics

The CDC provides free parking and excellent facilities in this community setting.

The post is fixed term/secondment to cover maternity.

### Main duties of the job

Provides highly complex, specialist Cardio-Respiratory service to patients from a range of specialties suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders.

Responsible for the provision, audit and quality of a specialist area of Cardio-Respiratory Physiology, Cardiac Ultrasound.

Responsible for the development and training of Clinical Physiologists (Cardio-Respiratory) within the cardiac ultrasound area.

Undertakes interpretation of results and provision of reports.

Works collaboratively on a day-to-day basis with others to ensure that service needs are met.

Provides advice to clinicians.

Performs transthoracic echocardiography.

Supervises junior staff.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Appropriate post qualification experience and familiarity with the range of basic and advanced Cardiac and Respiratory investigations

**Desirable**

- Supervisory experience/Managerial experience.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent formal specialist training, plus knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through specialist courses or training/experience to advance level.
- BSE TTE adult accreditation (holds or has previously held with CPD)

### Special Skills/Aptitudes

**Essential**

- Ability to perform a wide range of cardiac and respiratory procedures and/or to have the highest level of specialist skills and knowledge within the relevant field
- Able to interpret specialist cardiac investigation results and patient conditions.
- Ability to work autonomously, co-ordinate, plan and prioritise
