We are advertising an Assistant Psychologist (Higher Level) post within the Lambeth CAMHS service. The successful applicant will work under supervision with children, young people and their families and undertake a range of tasks including assessment, research and evaluation. The borough provides CAMH services to children and young people under 18 with a range of mental health needs with different configurations of multi-disciplinary teams. - To assist practitioner psychologists in the delivery of a specialist applied psychology service at    Lambeth CAMHS.
- To provide clinical work as required by the service, under the clinical and professional supervision of a practitioner psychologist.
- To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
- To work at appropriate levels of independence, following clinical guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, and seeking help from clinical/professional supervisor or manager as required.

The postholder will provide psychological assessments for clients at Lambeth CAMHS with a particular focus on those with neurodevelopmental conditions.  They will also support the with registration of new referrals to the service by meeting with parents/carers to gather initial information and outcome measures and liaise with other professionals involved in the child’s care to assist the assessment process.  The post holder will also be involved in supporting the running of protocol-based groups including parent information groups and in assisting other psychologists in the development of individual or group clinical materials or training      materials.

The post holder may also be required, to provide some individual manualised psychological interventions for children and adolescents.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Sufficient post-graduate experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs including children and young people ad those with neurodevelopmental to be able to work clinically without direct supervision.
- Experience of administering a standardised measure involved in diagnostic assessment of children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions that enable working independently as a pre-qualified practitioner with clinical supervision.
- Post-graduate experience of conducting research projects or audits.
- Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities. This may have been gained through work, research, volunteering and / or lived experience.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- A First-class or Upper-second-class Bachelors degree with Honours in Psychology that is accredited by the British Psychological Society and confers the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society.

**Desirable**

- Certified ADOS training.
- Experience of running groups.
- Experience of ADHD assessments.
- Experience of research methods.

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- Graduate level knowledge of psychological research methodology and statistical analysis.
- Good theoretical knowledge of the problems experienced by children and adolescents with mental health conditions and with neurodevelopmental conditions and of methods of assessment and treatment.
- Awareness of racial and diversity issues through attendance of relevant training.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills including communicating complex, sensitive or contentious information to clients, families and colleagues.
- Consultation skills to work with the multi-professional team or other professional groups within own service.
