### Job overview

To assist in the delivery of high-quality healthcare to cancer patients in East Kent. Transporting the HGV Class C Mobile Chemotherapy unit to set community locations to support the delivery of chemotherapy treatments to patients closer to home. The driver is responsible for ensuring the general maintenance of the vehicle, daily inspections and other legal requirements of drivers in accordance with industry standards and relevant road traffic law. They will also be involved in the non-clinical care of the patients by supporting the nursing team and ensuring that patient activity is recorded on the patient booking system.

### Main duties of the job

- To operate all aspects of the vehicle and on board non-medical equipment (access lift, air conditioning, generators.)
- To liaise with medical engineering regarding repairs and servicing of on-board medical equipment.
- To organise and Co-ordinate Trust service for cleaning of clinical area.
- To organise and Co-ordinate cleaning of external body of mobile unit.
- To Co-ordinate general maintenance of vehicle with associated service provider.
- Daily vehicle checks. Drive the Vehicle to different locations across East Kent.
- To check that required equipment and supplies are on board.
- To ensure that patients are attended on arrive and discharged with next planned treatment dates scheduled.
- Complete all documentation required of them, i.e. Fuel reports, daily log sheets and any other paperwork.
- Ensure all servicing reports are sent to EKLS manager as part of Operational Licence requirements, and for inspection by VOSA. (sent via the departmental manager)
- Ensure that CPC training is kept up to date.
- The driver must report any defects with the vehicle to the relevant manager.
- Extra hours to cover the service will be expected
- Arrange and co-ordinate the safe connection of the electrical hook up, keeping in line with the Trust Health and Safety Policy.
- Maintaining all relevant mandatory training.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- EU driver Hours rules (although exempt) Capable of dealing with sensitive or confidential matters. General knowledge of vehicle maintenance.

### Other requirements

- To be aware of and adhere to the Trust’s Vision, Mission and Values

### Skills and experience

**Essential**

- Ability to ensure that vehicle is maintained in safe condition at all times and that records relating to the vehicle are appropriately kept
- Ability to travel throughout the county. Driving in all-weather terrain, i.e. sun-snow. Whilst having the ability to adapt to unpredictable road traffic conditions, and the potential to be exposed to road rage
- Licence to drive both manual and automatic vehicles
- A basic maintenance skill, to ensure the vehicle is maintained on a daily basis in accordance with the Charity and Trust Policy/Guidelines
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work alone and as part of a team. Awareness of good customer care
- Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills with good administrative skills

### Qualifications and training

**Essential**

- Driver CPC Training & Certification
- HGV 2 Class C, Licence Holder- with clean licence

**Desirable**

- English and Maths GCSE
- Basic IT skills
- Basic First Aid Training
