We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible Healthcare Support Worker to join our established multi-professional team on Ruby Ward, based at the Priority House, Maidstone

If you are passionate about delivering compassionate care to individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties and are dedicated to respecting their rights and independence, we would love to welcome you to our team.

As a Healthcare Support Worker on Ruby Ward, you will play a key role in providing person-centred support to inpatients during acute phases of mental distress. Working closely with nursing and clinical colleagues on the ward, you will help create a safe, therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and self-reliance.

This position offers a rewarding opportunity to develop your skills through ongoing training while working as part of a supportive, collaborative healthcare team.

### Main duties of the job

- Direct Patient Care & Support: Provide daily support to inpatients on Ruby Ward, encouraging involvement in therapeutic activities that foster independence and overall well-being.
- Physical Health Monitoring: Conduct required physical health checks, accurately record observations using the NEWS2 early warning system, and promptly report any changes to the nurse in charge.
- Clear Communication: Pass on routine information—verbally, in writing, or electronically—to team members, patients, carers, and external contacts to ensure seamless care.
- Carer & Patient Guidance: Offer practical support, encouragement, and advice to patients and their families or carers throughout their stay.
- Daily Ward Tasks: Carry out day-to-day care tasks as delegated by the shift lead or nurse in charge.
- Professional Development & Flexibility: Participate in regular training and self-development while adopting a flexible working pattern to meet shift needs on the ward

### Experience

**Essential**

- A varied and considerable experience of working within Mental Health/Learning Disabilities setting.

**Desirable**

- NHS Experience

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- To have a good understanding of mental health conditions appropriate to the setting.
- Numeracy and English literacy skills
- Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of people.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, under the direction and supervision of a registered practitioner
- Punctual and flexible across hours of work

### Training, Qualifications and Registration

**Essential**

- Computer literate
- Care Certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Level 3 Qualification in Health and Social care or equivalent
