Healthcare Support Worker - Older People and Stroke

The role:

As a Healthcare Support Worker within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, person-centred care to patients within our Older People and Stroke Rehabilitation & Assessment services. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Duration: Permanent

Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital

Hours: 35.5 Hours (Shift Pattern - Monday-Sunday)

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours

Key responsibilities:

• Assist patients with personal care, including hygiene, dressing and mobility needs
• Support patients with nutritional and fluid intake as required or prescribed
• Observe and report any changes in patient condition to the registered nurse
• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge processes in line with procedures
• Undertake basic clinical tasks such as urinalysis and specimen collection
• Maintain accurate patient records, including charts and care documentation
• Ensure clinical areas, equipment and supplies are clean, safe and well-maintained

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Good standard of general education
• Strong verbal communication skills with a caring and respectful approach
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care
• Willingness to learn and develop within a clinical environment
• Understanding of basic health and safety principles in a care setting
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision within established procedures
