Collingwood Ward has exciting positions available for Healthcare Support Workers with an interest and passion for caring for the over sixty fives. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised staff.

The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, be able to provide a high standard of care and become part of a small friendly committed team caring for elderly patients.

### Main duties of the job

If you are new to Health Care we will place you on a HCSW induction programme to ensure that you are fully trained and supported to perform the role. The programme will last for up to 6 months and during this period of training you will be paid a salary of 25272. On completion of your training period your salary will rise to 25760 as per the advert.

If you've worked as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA), your skills transfer directly as a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) across mental and physical health.

- Working under indirect supervision, as part of the Community Team, the post holder will to have responsibility for delivering nursing care to patients following prescribed care plans and protocols
- Deal empathetically with sensitive information.
- Safely manage self-including:-
- Lone working in the community
- Handling body fluids and other hazardous material
- Patient handling
- Medical sharps
- Challenging behaviour situations
- Driving self
- Working as part of the Community Team and with other agencies you will provide care following a person-centred assessment for the health and well-being of patients.
- To deliver nursing care by following a care plan written as part of a holistic assessment by the registered nurse for patients and their family/carers in their own home and other community settings.
- Perform basic clinical activities which will include, wound care, venepuncture, blood glucose monitoring, physical observations.
