### Cardiac Physiologist – Band 5 (Newly Qualified or Experienced)

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Cardiac Physiologist to join our friendly and forward‑thinking Cardiology team. This opportunity is open to both newly qualified practitioners and those already working at Band 5 who are keen to develop their skills further.

Our busy Cardiology Department delivers a comprehensive range of invasive and non‑invasive investigations, offering you excellent exposure and variety. You’ll be actively supported through a personal development programme, with encouragement to broaden your competencies and progress your career.

To succeed in this role, you’ll be a team player with proven skills in ECG recording and rhythm recognition, alongside a good working understanding of echocardiography, pacing and catheter laboratory procedures. ### Main duties of the job

In this role, you’ll contribute to the day‑to‑day clinical and operational delivery of both invasive and non‑invasive cardiology services, helping to ensure safe, effective, and high‑quality patient care. Alongside delivering clinical activity, you’ll provide support to colleagues and play an important role in the smooth running of a complex and specialist cardiology service.

You’ll work closely within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating regularly with consultants, medical staff at all levels, clinical assistants, nurses, radiographers and clerical colleagues. The role involves undertaking a broad and varied range of procedures, many of which are complex and non‑routine, offering excellent opportunity for professional development.

The post includes rotational shift working over six days, including Sunday working, participation in the on‑call rota (catheter laboratory), and occasional work within a community setting.

Main duties and responsibilities
- CRM Clinic Clinical Duties & Responsibilities
- Interpret and report remote PPM and ILR transmission data across different  remote platforms, with direct/indirect supervision.
- Apply evidence-based best practice and use of relevant clinical protocols and  procedures  Non-Invasive Clinical Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy, conditions and  pathologies
- Resting 12-lead ECG acquisition and interpretation to SCST standard.
- Advanced technical analysis of ambulatory ECG
- Produce comprehensive, unsupervised ambulatory ECG reports of a highly  professional standard
- Provide cover for the Assistant Cardiac Practitioners to fit ambulatory ECG and BP  monitors
- Lead role in cardiac physiologist-led and doctor-supervised exercise testing for the  ischaemic and inherited cardiac condition patient cohorts with provision of full and  accurate technical report
- Able to risk assess patients and escalate results to senior colleagues or medical  staff depending on clinical findings.
- Skilled management of cardiac arrest situations. Technical leadership in the use of  defibrillation and ILS protocol during cardiac arrest situations and highly pressurised  complex cases. Invasive Clinical duties
- To assist and lead in the implantation of ILR devices and to provide a high level of  education to the patient.
- Introduction to coronary intervention cath lab
- Assist senior colleagues with the cardiac catheter labs and ensuring quality  assurance is maintained.  l

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Desire to train in interventional angiography and cardiac pacing and or Echo Comprehensive knowledge of cardiac conditions and pathologies

**Desirable**

- Previous experience of basic computer skills
- Competency Certificate in ECG’s

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Healthcare Science degree (Cardiac Physiology)
- Independently perform ECGs and apply ambulatory monitors

**Desirable**

- ILS
- 1 years experience in Cardiology Department since qualification
- SCST exam
- RCCP or AHCS membership
