### Job overview

The Clinical Neurophysiology department at Addenbrookes Hospital (Cambridge University Hospitals) is looking for a part or full time, fixed term, qualified and experienced healthcare scientist (Neurophysiology) to join our friendly team. The post will run from 24th August 2026 until 2nd July 2027.

### Main duties of the job

The Clinical Neurophysiology department consists of 6 Consultant Neurophysiologists, 2 Specialist Registrars, 16 Healthcare scientists and 4 Administrators.

The department provides the following services;

-      Outpatient routine, sleep and ambulatory EEGs on adults and paediatrics

-      Inpatient portable EEGs on a huge range of wards and ages

-      Adult video EEG telemetry

-      Paediatric video EEG telemetry

-      Home video Telemetry

-      Visual evoked potentials

-      Pre-operative/ diagnostic/prognostic somatosensory evoked potentials

-      Nerve conduction studies/EMG

-      Intraoperative monitoring

The successful candidate should be able to perform all forms of outpatient/inpatient EEGs and upper limb NCS independently and have experience in other modalities.

Candidates should have BSc Honours Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent e.g STP, MSc, and/or ANS Part 1 with relevant experience and AHCS or HCPC registration.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Undertakes a wide range of complex, specialised techniques including all EEG types, Evoked potentials, NCS +/- Telemetry/IOM
- Is able to gain the co-operation of all client groups i.e. adults, children and neonates including those with learning difficulties, mental health problems or other special needs to obtain a technically good and accurate investigation.
- Able to interpret investigation results and patient conditions
- Have empathy, understand patient needs, be sympathetic and tactful.
- Able to obtain technically acceptable recordings in all environments including technically challenging situations e.g. intensive care and theatre
- Has the manual dexterity to apply accurately babies and children who are less co-operative
- Uses professional knowledge and skill to appropriately use activation procedures when clinically safe to do so and with regard to department policies.
- Has knowledge and skill to refer to medical staff when clinical intervention is required.
- Experience of taking responsibility for workload planning on a day to day basis.
- Negotiates and liaises with other professionals, staff and patients
- Works on own initiative to prioritise workload

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- BSc Honours Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent formal specialist training (Other appropriate qualifications e.g. PTP/STP/BTEC HND/C in MPPM/or equivalent experience and professional exam ANS Part 1) plus knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through specialist
