We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Cardiac Investigations team at Worthing Hospital as a Healthcare Science Practitioner (Cardiology), pending successful completion of Degree. We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated applicants wanting to further their training and experience in all areas of Cardiac Physiology with a view for progression and helping to shape our workforce for the future.
Main duties of the job
To assist in delivery of a high quality Cardiac Investigations service to inpatients and outpatients of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust – Worthing Hospital.
To include:-
- Working towards becoming an independent Cardiac Physiologist/Healthcare Science Practitioner within a wide range of investigations including echocardiography, pacemaker, ICD and complex device interrogation and follow-up with supervision; training and assisting in PPM/ICD/CRT device implant procedures; assisting in all invasive investigations in the Cardiac Catheter Lab and assisting in providing comprehensive reports; Working towards leading in Exercise Tolerance Testing as well as undertaking Holter analysis and reporting
- Organising and managing own workload
- Being conversant with Cardiac Arrest protocol
- Assisting in the supervision and training of other staff and healthcare professionals where required

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To communicate information to staff both Medical and Non-Medical
- To communicate effectively with patients, to obtain their consent and cooperation, including patients with physical/learning disabilities, children or confused patients
- To communicate effectively with relatives of patients
- To promote a pleasant and efficient image during all dealings with internal and external organisations
- To develop good working relationships with other departments within the Trust
- To participate in the cardiac department meetings
- Liaise proactively with line manager and colleagues regarding any issues/areas of concern
