Join our dynamic Research & Innovation Laboratory Team at York Teaching Hospital as a Healthcare Science Associate Practitioner and play a key role in supporting innovative clinical research.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a specialist, close-knit team delivering high-quality laboratory support to a wide range of research studies across York and Scarborough Hospitals. You will join a dedicated research-focused laboratory team, where collaboration, expertise and attention to detail are essential. Despite being a small team, you will be part of a wider network of skilled professionals committed to advancing clinical research across the Trust.

### Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our team and support the delivery of an efficient, high-quality and responsive Laboratory Medicine service for clinical research.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

- Play a key part in supporting a diverse portfolio of clinical trials and research projects
- Assess the capacity and capability of laboratory services to support new and developing studies
- Ensure strict compliance with research protocols, laboratory manuals and regulatory standards
- Contribute to work that is subject to external inspections and governance requirements
- Help maintain the highest standards of accuracy, organisation and quality in research delivery

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous experience of working to written procedures in a laboratory environment

**Desirable**

- Previous experience of R&D
- Experience of working in a blood science laboratory, performing tests and maintaining equipment

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- HNC/HND or a Foundation Degree in a science subject

**Desirable**

- BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science

### Specialist Knowledge

**Essential**

- Understands the contribution of R&D to patient care
- Computer literate (MS Word & Excel)

**Desirable**

- Experience of internal and external laboratory quality assurance methods
