Healthcare Assistant - Ward 35   Band 2  37.5 Hours per week

Ward 35 is a 23-bedded Care of the Elderly ward caring for patients aged 65 years and over, including those living with dementia, delirium and Parkinson’s disease.

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Band 2 Health Care Assistants who are eager to learn, demonstrate a kind and caring approach towards patients, families and colleagues, and who will contribute positively as valued members of our team.

### Main duties of the job

As a Band 2 Health Care Assistant on Ward 35, you will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to older adults with a range of physical, cognitive and complex health needs, including dementia, delirium and Parkinson's disease.

Key responsibilities include:

- Assisting patients with personal care needs, including washing, dressing, toileting and maintaining dignity at all times.
- Supporting patients with eating and drinking, encouraging independence where possible and monitoring nutritional intake.
- Assisting with the safe mobilisation and transfer of patients using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Supporting patients who may be confused, distressed or living with dementia by providing reassurance, effective communication and compassionate care.
- Assisting with pressure area care and supporting measures to prevent falls and maintain patient safety.
- Working in partnership with patients, families and carers, treating everyone with kindness, respect and dignity.
- Accurately documenting care provided and communicating effectively with members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Adhering to Trust policies, infection prevention and control standards, safeguarding procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Participating in training, supervision and development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills.
