Ward 37 is a busy and dynamic General Surgical ward providing high-quality care to patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures.

We pride ourselves on delivering compassionate, patient-centred care within a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team and we are looking for a motivated and caring Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join our team.

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care to our patients. Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses, you will provide enhanced clinical support and contribute to the smooth running of the ward.

### Main duties of the job

- Provide direct patient care, ensuring dignity and respect at all times Support with activities of daily living (e.g. personal care, mobility, nutrition)
- Undertake clinical observations (e.g. vital signs, blood glucose monitoring) and report any concerns
- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes
- Support infection prevention and control measures
- Maintain accurate patient records

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Knowledge and experience of a range of HCA procedures and practices (inc. venepuncture, taking clinical observations, CPR etc) gained through: Proven work experience, or completion of the Healthcare Support Worker Academy’s 2-week programme within 3 months of start date
- Can demonstrate an understanding of what is required within the role of a Healthcare Assistant in the care setting
- Can describe the Trust Values and demonstrate how they put these into practice within their caring role

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- GCSE in Maths and English grades 9-1 (A- G) or Functional Skills Level 1 or higher

**Desirable**

- NVQ 2/3 in Health-related subject
