This position is based on the Acute Medical floor at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the post will be based on AAU or AMU .

We are looking for caring and compassionate Healthcare Assistants to join our team. You will have good communication skills and a caring nature, with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. In return we can offer you a robust training programme (a 2 week academy Healthcare programme prior to starting in the department if new to the role), as well as further training and education to progress your career with us.

PLEASE NOTE- there is very limited availability in flexible working- particularly nights.

### Main duties of the job

- This role supports registered nurses in providing safe and caring support to patients.
- It involves helping patients with everyday needs such as washing, eating, drinking and moving safely.
- You will check and record basic health information and report any concerns to a nurse.
- The job includes keeping the ward clean, tidy and well-organised, and helping with basic admin tasks.
- You will work flexibly across different wards and follow all training, policies and safety rules.
- Good communication, kindness and respect for patients and their individual needs are essential.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Can demonstrate an understanding, through personal statement and interview, of what is required within the role of a Health Care Assistant in the care setting
- Can describe the Trust Values and demonstrate how they put these in to practice within their caring role
- Experience of care either formal or informal e.g. for a family/friend

**Desirable**

- Previous hospital experience

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- GCSE in Maths and English grade 9-4 ( A – C) Functional Skills L1 or higher 2

**Desirable**

- Level 2 Diploma in Health Care support
- NVQ Level 2 in Care or demonstrate a commitment to work towards
