In East Sussex our highly innovative Early Help 0-19 Service puts health visiting at the very heart of support for families with children from 0-5yrs across the county.  Now, we are looking for qualified health visitors who want to be part a dynamic, committed and integrated team of highly trained, early help professionals who effectively work together ensuring the needs of families are at the centre of everything we do.

### Main duties of the job

Who are you?

You are a fully qualified Health Visitor with a BSc SCPHN degree. You may have just completed your training.

Crucially, you will be able to address sensitive issues with families in a clear and supportive way.

You can maintain good interpersonal relationships with colleagues, partners and families.

You enjoy providing preventative and educational support for families, new staff and students according to their needs.

Your work contributes directly to the Public Health Agenda in addressing the 6 high impact areas.

You share our values, demonstrate compassion and a desire to contribute the improvement and development of the service.

You will be a reflective and emotionally intelligent practitioner who understands the true value of supervision and support and acts as a professional role model at all times.

You are keen to continue developing your knowledge of safeguarding children, recognising concerns and how to escalate them appropriately.

**Essential**

- Ability to demonstrate effective problem solving approach
- Able to manage the physical and emotional demands of the role, including moving and handling of patients, able to concentrate to provide clinical care, calculation of drug dosages and communication of distressing or unwelcome information
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (for domiciliary community role) and ability to travel between sites
- Evidence that personal behaviour reflects Trust Values

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of delivering all aspects of the Health Child programme
- Experience in nursing care, knowledge and expertise relevant to the clinical area within NHS or relevant health care organisation
- Experience in clinical speciality relevant to role to be able to demonstrate the required level of professional knowledge and skills at a specialist level

**Desirable**

- Community experience

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse/Midwife and hold active registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- HV qualification - Educated to degree level supplemented by diploma level specialist training or relevant equivalent training and experience
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Degree
- Evidence of continued professional development to Masters or equivalent level of training and experience

**Desirable**

- ENB 997/998, Learning through Mentorship module/ Supporting Learners In Practice training
- Management or leadership qualification or training
- Quality improvement training and qualification
- Child protection qualification

### Skills/Knowledge/Abilties

**Essential**

- Professional clinical knowledge skills and skills that demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, develop and implement programmes of care, including complex/specialist care needs
- Skills to assess and interpret complex needs of patients and able to give expert advice and guidance Specialist clinical skills and competence relevant to role to support innovative, evidence based practice.
- Ability to apply professional judgement and problem solve and lead discussions within the team to resolve complex issues
- Able to support learners and clinical supervision of staff and lead on improvements within the learning environment.
- Able to support mentors in decisions related to students/learners and make judgements regarding competence and fitness to practice including managing poor performance
- Ability to lead a team, allocate workload, develop and promote staff wellbeing and performance
- Knowledge of clinical governance
- Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organise workload, manage time effectively and delegate as appropriate
- Ability to assess develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care
