### The Role

To manage and co ordinate team members allocating and monitoring workload that leads to an efficient patient administration service within the Health Records Department, which administratively underpins the patient’s journey to and through the hospital, to meet the needs of patients and health care professionals. To assist in the implementation of department policies and procedures

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

In this key role, you will:

Responsible for the day to day management of Health Records Department staff prioritising workloads and maintaining workflow to ensure targets and deadlines are met as agreed with Health Records Manager.

Assist and compile duty sheets.

Responsible for granting staff annual leave ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained and all staff records are updated.

Ensure procedures for reporting sickness absence are followed by staff.

Identify and resolve any problem solving issues with regards to the smooth running of patient administration and reception service.

Ensure team members follow identified policies and procedures and to participate in the development of new protocols and policies.

Responsible for the distribution of clerical workload, planning staff rotation within the department.

What You'll Bring:

Educated to standard grade.

Knowledge of working practices within a Health Records Department gained through 3 years experience and/or qualification at SVQ level 4, ECDL or equivalent.

Knowledge of patient/clinical management systems.

Computer literate and keyboard skills.

Multi skilled and experience in multi-tasking.

Knowledge of confidentiality, data protection and relevant legislation.

Effective communication, interpersonal and teambuilding skills both written and verbal.

Experience of working as part of a team and on own initiative.

Flexibility to be able to work within the various areas of the Health Records Department.

Knowledge and understanding of statistical information.

Knowledge and understanding of personnel procedures.
