This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced children’s registered nurse or registered midwife, with significant safeguarding children knowledge and experience to work strategically and operationally  within the new London Borough of Hackney and City of London  Multiagency Child Protection Teams (MACPTs) providing expert specialist  health advice to support the child protection process of safeguarding vulnerable babies, children and young people who have experienced significant harm.

This post is available as a secondment.

### Main duties of the job

The postholder will work collaboratively Social Work, Police and Education and MASH health colleagues, to ensure safe and effective decision making at every point in the child safeguarding journey. The MACPT Health Lead will take lead and advise on cases being overseen by the MACPT and will facilitate access to other health agencies and practitioners. They will develop networks of support and work in partnership with the other MACPT members to create effective multi‑agency interventions and plans, based on a rigorous assessment of risk. The post holder will promote culturally competent, active anti-racist, and trauma informed practice within the MACPT

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Specialist knowledge in current legislation and statutory guidance in relating to safeguarding children and child protection.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experienced SCPHN working actively in a safeguarding specialist role. Line management experience at band 7 or above. Experience of working with vulnerable families / child protection in the community setting. Experience of multi-agency / partnership working, and the ability to professionally challenge decisions and articulate rationale effectively. Experience of effective interagency working. Evidence of working in highly stressful environments.

### Education / Qualifications

**Essential**

- NMC Registered Children’s Nurse or Registered Midwife. Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – Health Visitor or School Nurse. Level 4 Safeguarding. First Level Degree in a relevant field Evidence of continual professional development

### Education / Qualifications Skills/ Abilities

**Essential**

- Delivery of safeguarding supervision. Caseload management of safeguarding – child protection. Audit experience. Ability to analyse highly complex safeguarding situations and contribute to investigations or decisions within the MACPT. Ability to formulate and implement policies and protocols. Produce management reports including statistics for child protection and complex cases for service delivery as required by boards
