### Job overview

An opportunity for a Health Care Support Worker has arisen on ward 9 at the Princess of Wales Hospital. We are looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team on the Endocrinology/General Medical ward. The applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills along with the ability to use their own initiative. Flexibility regarding shift patterns is essential. In addition, experience working with the elderly who may have complex physical and cognitive needs is desirable, however training will be provided for the successful applicant.

### Main duties of the job

The individual will be required to work under the direction of the registered nurse, ensuring that high standards of care are provided and maintained at all times. The applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills along with the ability to use their own initiative.

The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
