We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic health care assistant to work as part of a team on ward 4 in the Princess of Wales Hospital.

Ward 4 is a speciality ward caring for patients with acute cardiology and endocrine problems. It is a busy and fast paced environment where the whole strive to ensure excellent and safe care is delivered to all patients.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to use Welsh in routine workplace situations, such as greeting customers, answering calls, responding to routine enquiries, providing information, arranging appointments and taking messages. ### Main duties of the job

- Provision of care to patients with medical conditions- mainly cardiology and endocrine under the guidance of the Registered Nurse.
- Work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients with support and supervision provided by a registered health care professional.
- Undertake personal care activities and tasks as delegated by a registered healthcare professional, in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation.
- Ensure the registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on the patient’s/client’s condition and improvement/deterioration.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the healthcare setting and appropriate storage of stock items.

The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements.
