### Job overview

The Healthcare Assistant (band 3) has a greater degree of autonomy than the Healthcare Assistant (band 2) and undertakes a broader range of health and care in accordance with policy and procedures.

The post holder will work on their own initiative, undertaking delegated tasks with appropriate supervision in place from a registered practitioner/assistant practitioner.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder contributes to assessment and assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans. They will supervise other staff and promote the delivery of high-quality care.

Assist the Registered Practitioner/Assistant Practitioner in the assessment, on-going assessment, planning, management, and evaluation of the delivery of care in a community setting.

Under direction of the Registered Practitioner/Assistant Practitioner, supports appropriate individualised, clinical/risk assessments providing accurate feedback as necessary.

Deliver safe, high quality, compassionate care following individualised care plans and treatment interventions determined by the Registered Practitioner. This will include supporting patients with all aspects of the fundamentals of care including activities of daily living, providing feedback on progress against the plans.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant within area of work

**Desirable**

- Previous relevant experience in specialty

### Aptitude and Abilities

**Essential**

- Adhere to and can demonstrate SBU Values & Behaviours
- Caring, compassionate attitude to patients and clients

**Desirable**

- Welsh language skills

### Qualifications & Knowledge

**Essential**

- Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses
- Ability to be able to complete certified /accredited physical intervention training, for example Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) during induction
- Experience of working within a relevant heath or social care environment, providing direct patient care
- Good communication skills – verbal, non-verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and sensitively

**Desirable**

- Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Ability to work a range of shift patterns
