We have a number of full time and part time Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) opportunities available across the Trust to applicants  with or without previous health care experience,  who are wanting to develop a career in health care.

You can visit our recruitment specialists on:

- Friday 26th June 2026 12pm - 3pm

Following your attendance at the drop in, successful candidates will be invited for interview on:

- Monday 29th June 2026

The drop in sessions will be held at, Monkmoor Court, 31-34 Commercial Road, HR1 2BG .  No pre booking required, please bring along your updated CV.

Please note: Wye Valley NHS Trust is unable to provide sponsorship for these roles. Dependant visa’s requirement: minimum of 12 months remaining prior to expiry.

### Main duties of the job

As a Health Care Support Worker, you will be a hugely valuable support to our Nursing  teams providing care to our patients. Every day will be different and you will work alongside the rest of the team carrying out a wide range of tasks and assisting with care to support the needs of the patients and their families.

Examples of what you may do as part of your role:

- Washing and dressing patients
- Serving meals and feeding patients
- Helping patients to move around
- Making beds
- Talking to patients and their families
- Monitoring patient condition

Skills and personal attributes needed:

- Caring and kind
- Cheerful and friendly
- Keen to support patients with their personal needs including washing and toileting
- Able to follow direct instructions
- Happy to work in a team but also able to use own initiative
- Have good listening and communication skills
- Be well organised

Full time and part time positions are available, and we are open to discuss flexible working arrangements. This opportunity is available for candidates who have the right to work in the UK. ### Experience

**Essential**

- Working with people

**Desirable**

- Previous experience working in a care enviroment

### Personal Attributes

**Essential**

- Flexible and adaptable to a changing environment
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously
- Ability to work well under pressure

### Education and Qualifications

**Essential**

- Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
- Good standard of secondary education

**Desirable**

- Willingness to undertake Maths and English Functional Skills qualifications  (If not already obtained)
- Diploma level 2/3 in Health & Social Care
- Willingness to work towards Apprenticeship level 2/3 in Health & Social Care (If not already obtained)
- A minimum Maths and English GCSE grades 3 – 9 or grades A,B,C,D or equivalent Functional Skills qualifications or pass internal literacy & numeracy assessment (Essential band 3)

### Skills Knowledge and Abilities

**Essential**

- Undertake personal care and related procedures

**Desirable**

- Demonstrate knowledge of roles and responsibilities within clinical setting
- Ability to perform patient observations and recordings
