### Job summary

Riverside Health Partnership seeks a motivated, committed and skilled professional for the position of Health Care Assistant to work with our excellent nursing team under the direction of the Group Practice Manager and GP Partners.

The successful candidate will be able to deliver a high standard of patient care as a Health Care Assistant to the practice population and work collaboratively with the practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.

We are a large, multi-site training practice with 16 GPs, 4 ANPs, 7 PNs, a large pharmacy team, 10 GP Trainees, 3 HCAs and a large, highly performing management team.

### Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

Perform Phlebotomy duties including INRs

Perform and record biometric measurements ( BP readings, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height, weight)

Provide NHS Health Checks in accordance with the service specification

Perform ECGs

Administer Flu, Pneumococcal and B12 vaccines

Assist GP during Minor Surgery

Perform basic dressing changes

Undertake home visits as appropriate to competence

Greet patients and visitors in a warm, professional manner

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, preferably within General Practice or Primary Care. Experience working within the NHS.
- Competent in phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, height/weight/BMI measurements, urinalysis and basic health checks. Experience undertaking NHS Health Checks.
- Experience in ECG recording, spirometry, peak flow measurement, wound care/dressings, suture/staple removal, assisting with minor surgery, vaccinations where appropriately trained and permitted, and long-term condition monitoring.
- Experience managing own clinical appointment lists/workload.

**Desirable**

- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, Healthcare Support or equivalent. Care Certificate.
- Knowledge of General Practice and Primary Care services. Understanding of QOF, chronic disease management, health promotion and disease prevention.
- Experience using GP clinical systems such as SystmOne or EMIS Web. Experience with NHS IT systems.
