We are recruiting Health Care Assistants to join our Urgent Care Emergency Access Pathway services, providing vital support to individuals experiencing mental health crises across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

About the Service:

You will be part of a dynamic, nursing-led team working across three specialist services:

Mental Health Urgent Care Hub (MHUCH)

The MHUCH hub is a unit set up during COVID to divert patients from accident and emergency to triage and assess patients with LLR who are experiencing mental health crisis. It is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with band 6 MHPs and band 3 health care support workers.

Mental Health Response Vehicle (MHRV)

The MHRV is a new service set up in early 2024, it a mental health ambulance grey in colour with the NHS logo inscribed on the side. It provides on the scene triage and assessment for patients in mental health crisis within LLR. It is also staffed by band 6 MHPs and band 3 health care support workers, operating between 12:00pm and 00:30am 7 days a week.

Place of Safety Unit (PSAU)

The Place of safety assessment unit is an access unit for patients who are detained under section 136 and 135 under the Mental Health Act 1983.

### Main duties of the job

- Opening referrals and receiving referrals from our partner agencies.
- Measuring of patients physical observations.
- Interacting with patients during level 3 supportive observations at the PSAU.
- Offering patients snacks and drinks while wating for assessment.
- Undertaking level 1 observations when patient is staying overnight at the MHUCH.
- Attending patients address with a practitioner to complete assessments on MHRV.
- Documenting all interactions on Electronic Patient Records.
