We are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity for experienced Health Care Assistants to come and join our expanding teams on our Adult Acute Inpatients wards and Forensic Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit within the Directorate of Mental Health. Our Mental Health Services provide voluntary and in-voluntary short-term in-patient management and treatment during an acute phase of mental illness, until the person has recovered enough to be treated effectively and safely in the community. The vacancies that we have are distributed across various wards at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit in Glenfield and the following information tells you a little bit more about the wards: We currently have vacancies within 5 of our Adult Acute wards and each ward provides care and treatment for individuals experiencing acute mental health illnesses.

- Watermead Ward 20 beds, mixed gender

- Ashby Ward 14 beds, female only
- Bosworth Ward 14 beds, male only
- Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (FPICU) are specialised wards that provide inpatient mental health care, assessment and comprehensive treatment to individuals who are experiencing the most acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder.

Please note that the Healthcare Assistants work a rota system of Long Days (12 hr shifts) Day and Night covering a 7-day working week. We can offer Part time and Full time posts, however the minimum you will be required to work is 23 hours per week. These are also permanent roles not bank roles and we are unable to offer sponsorship. About the role: We ask that you demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to problem solve and negotiate. We believe all our staff can develop leadership qualities and if you can demonstrate yours, there will be opportunities to nurture and develop them.

- For inpatient based roles, there is no mobility requirement outside of getting to your place of work.
- For community based roles, own transport or suitable alternative is required, and dependence on public transport is not suitable for community based roles.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Level 2 qualification in functional skills Maths and English or equivalent qualification
- Level 3 qualification in Care or equivalent relevant experience
- Care Certificate or required to successfully complete within 12 weeks

- Physically capable for performing the role and responsibilities expected of the post holder, i.e. manual handling of clients/service users
- Willingness to undertake further training and ongoing development
