The candidate must be a highly experienced radiotherapy physicist holding both HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist and RPA2000 registration as an MPE. Having HSSR would be an advantage. They must have extensive experience of managing diverse staff groups and significant project management experience within radiotherapy. Nottingham Radiotherapy Centre serves a catchment population of about 1.2 million and provides highly specialist treatments to the rest of the East Midlands (including paediatric radiotherapy, SRS and pancreatic SABR). It has six Elekta linacs, including two new EVO linacs with IRIS imaging. Other services include a Papillon P+ contact therapy unit and image guided brachytherapy. Treatment planning is with RayStation. Nottingham is a vibrant city in the East Midlands with a wide range of cultural, sporting and recreational facilities ( https://www.visit-nottinghamshire.co.uk/). It benefits from affordable house prices. ### Main duties of the job The Head of Radiotherapy Physics acts as Consultant Head of Service for the Radiotherapy Physics service, providing expert advice on radiotherapy techniques, service developments and the optimisation of radiotherapy. The post holder will act as Medical Physics Expert and manage a team of scientists and technicians responsible for the provision of the Radiotherapy Physics service to the Trust. The post holder will oversee the coordination of the research programme in Radiotherapy Physics and initiate research & development in that specialty. The post holder will supervise the training of clinical scientists and technologists and provide training for other staff groups as appropriate. The post-holder will form part of the multidisciplinary team providing radiotherapy services to patients within NUH; collaborating with clinicians and other staff over the strategic direction for radiotherapy and the optimal way to provide a high quality, patient centred radiotherapy service .service.
