An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an inspirational, values-driven radiography leader to join the Clinical and Scientific Services Clinical Group at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as Head of Radiography.

This is a highly influential senior leadership role at the heart of one of the Trust's largest, most innovative and complex Care Divisions. Working as part of the senior management triumvirate in Imaging alongside the Associate Director of Performance and Operations and Clinical Head of Division.  You will have a pivotal role in driving excellence across quality, safety, professional practice and workforce development.

As a visible, compassionate and empowering leader, you will champion outstanding patient care while inspiring and supporting a talented radiography workforce. You will help shape the culture, standards and direction of Imaging services, ensuring patients continue to receive safe, effective and high-quality care across our services.

We are looking for a forward-thinking and credible radiography professional with a passion for quality improvement, governance, education, research and professional leadership.

### Main duties of the job

- Provide senior professional leadership for radiographers across the Imaging Care Division, ensuring high standards of practice, professional accountability and continuing professional development.
- Work in close partnership with the Imaging Associate Director of Performance and Operations, Clinical Head of Division, Imaging Clinical Director for Quality and Safety and Clinical Group Director of Nursing and Healthcare Professionals to deliver safe, effective and well-governed services.
- Champion quality, safety, patient experience and clinical effectiveness, ensuring robust governance, risk management, incident learning, complaints oversight and compliance with statutory, regulatory and professional requirements, including relevant radiation protection legislation.
- Lead and support radiography teams, creating an inclusive, compassionate and improvement-focused culture where colleagues feel valued, empowered and supported to succeed.
- Drive professional standards, education, research, innovation and quality improvement across services, embedding evidence-based practice and developing the workforce
- Contribute to workforce planning, recruitment, retention and professional development, ensuring radiography services are resilient, sustainable and responsive
- Build strong collaborative relationships across CSS, the wider Trust and external partners, acting as a visible and approachable professional leader

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of the professional development agenda in the NHS
- Knowledge of regulatory and NHS strategy which impacts on AHP service delivery and experience of developing strategies to address changes
- Understanding of the principles and practice of performance improvement and key performance indicators
- Ability to encourage, plan and implement strategies and service improvement
- Evidence of experience in management of change
- Evidence of collaborative working and learning
- Knowledge and experience of patient safety and quality matters at a senior level

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- First level graduate HCPC registration
- Graduate to Masters level or equivalent in health related subject
- Evidence of relevant study and continuing professional development
- Post registration leadership development

**Desirable**

- Leadership/management qualification

### TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

**Essential**

- Operational management experience at senior radiographer level in a large complex environment
- Knowledge and experience of clinical audit
- Proven achievement in developing policy and service objectives, establishing and implementing innovative solutions
- Knowledge and understanding of NHS Long Term Plan and implications for clinical leadership development
- Current knowledge of relevant professional and NHS Policy Initiatives
- Experience in managing projects to identified milestone and budget allocation
- Ongoing recent evidence of leading clinical innovation or leading change within clinical practice
- Effective leadership skills in relation to managing staff with ability to motivate and develop others

**Desirable**

- Experience of business planning
- Experience of research activities
