This is a key leadership role within a highvolume, multi-site diagnostic and imaging service supporting elective recovery and service transformation. This opportunity arises following a significant expansion of ophthalmic imaging services across both the main hospital site and a newly established diagnostic hub. Alongside this growth, the service has transitioned to a joint Head of Department model, providing resilient and collaborative leadership across sites. You will work closely with the existing Head of Ophthalmic Photography to lead a growing team and ensure the safe, effective, and high-quality delivery of imaging services. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining clinical standards, driving quality improvement, and supporting the ongoing development of pathways in line with Trust priorities and national ophthalmology demand. This role is ideal for an experienced senior ophthalmic photographer or imaging specialist who is ready to step into a strategic leadership position and shape the future of ophthalmic diagnostics within a forward-looking NHS organisation. This is a multi-site role, and the post holder will be expected to work flexibly across locations as required to meet service needs. ### Main duties of the job As a Head of Ophthalmic Photography, you will provide operational and professional leadership for ophthalmic imaging services across multiple sites, including the main hospital and diagnostic hub. Working as part of a joint leadership model you will ensure effective coordination of workforce, activity, and resources to meet increasing demand. Key responsibilities include: - Providing leadership and day-to-day management of the ophthalmic photography team, including workforce planning, rota management, and staff development - Ensuring high standards of clinical practice, governance, and adherence to imaging protocols across all sites - Supporting delivery of elective recovery by maximising imaging capacity and throughput in line with KPIs - Driving quality assurance processes, audit activity, and continuous service improvement to enhance patient outcomes and experience - Leading on standardisation of pathways and reducing unwarranted variation between sites - Acting as a senior point of escalation for clinical and operational issues within the imaging service - Working collaboratively with clinical, operational, and multidisciplinary teams to support service development and transformation You will also contribute to the strategic development of ophthalmic imaging services, supporting innovation and the effective utilisation of diagnostic capacity within both the hospital and community-facing diagnostic settings. ### About us Please add your telephone number to your application form so we can contact you quickly if required.
