### Job overview

The Head of Occupation Heath ensures the smooth running of the Occupational Health Service providing senior leadership across the team. You will be part of the HR&OD senior team reporting directly to the Associate Director of People, and supports Trust activity both in relation to employee wellbeing but also in support of the wider responsibilities and objectives of HR&OD.

### Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for managing the provision of the Occupational Health Service within a large, complex organisation. You will operate with an unusually high degree of autonomy. General strategic direction only is provided by the Chief People Officer and Chief Nurse (professionally)

Working with the senior clinical and managerial stakeholders you will lead on the delivery of a high quality service that delivers both proactive and reactive support to staff to facilitate improved health and wellbeing. The service will address the agendas of the People Strategy and Health & Wellbeing programme where you will be responsible for ensuring the service develops to reflect any changes in both.

You will be responsible for ensuing compliance with the responsibilities imposed by health and safety legislation as well as championing best practice in occupational health provision.

You will also be responsible for managing the external contracts for the provision of an Occupational Health Consultant Physician and the Cority Occupational Software system.

- Significant senior management experience within a large healthcare organisation
- Expert knowledge of all occupational health requirements within a healthcare setting
- Knowledge and experience of OH systems, both implementation and maximising use to support effective working and service improvements
- Experience of managing complex case load including both physical and mental health issues
- Expert knowledge of occupational health promotion
- Knowledge and experience of budget management and cost improvement initiatives

**Desirable**

- Experience of NHS occupational health services
- Management of EAP services including tender process
- Experience of managing projects across organisations

### Academic/Professional qualification/Training

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse (with valid NMC)
- Post-registration Occupational Health Specialist Practitioner Nursing Qualification (part 3 of NMC Register)
- Educated to degree level in relevant OH qualification or equivalent experience
- Evidence of ongoing professional development

**Desirable**

- OH Diploma in management
- Masters level Qualification or equivalent experience
