### Job summary

An exciting 12 month secondment opportunity has become available for a Head of IT Delivery to join the well established IT Department at WMAS.

In line with the strategy of the Trust you will be responsible for ensuring the continuity of IT services and infrastructure across the Trust, making sure systems are resilient , effective and secure, through taking appropriate planning and action as required.

The successful applicant must hold relevant professional qualifications in technical subject along with extensive experience of working within an IT environment and delivering critical services. Managing, developing and leading technical staff (including dealing with sickness, appraisals, disciplinary and grievances).

This post is a critical member of the Senior Management Team within the WMAS IT Department and will contribute to the overall delivery of critical IT Services for the Trust, in partnership with the other IT SMT members.

### Job responsibilities

Responsible for the continued service of Trust systems, ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place to resolve issues by either internal IT staff or by third party SLAs.

Design and application of a comprehensive range of procedures for security, recovery and restart (including from disaster) and incident/problem controls.

Ensures that all staff in the Directorate receives the appropriate level of training required to deliver the Trusts aims and objectives.

Ensures that all staff in the Directorate attends mandatory training courses, meetings and seminars as deemed appropriate by the Trust and/or the Heads of Department.

Responsible for the budget areas and that appropriate action is taken where deficits occur and ensures that the appropriate managers are informed of the situation and that the appropriate remedial action is taken by all staff within the directorate. Maintains a reporting structure until the department is back in balance.

Ensures that all systems used by the Trust meet the required standards for security and works to achieve this objective with the appropriate departmental managers.

Guaranteeing integrity and confidentiality of information delivered to and sent by users in line with the Trusts and NHS policy.

Understanding and requirements of installed and planned systems, particularly in respect of communications requirements, including security, characteristics of associated hardware and software, and targets for performance and quality of service.

Supplier Management

Overall responsible for ensuring that agreements and SLAs developed with third party suppliers are implemented across the region where appropriate.

Obtaining and evaluating offers from suppliers of equipment, software, transmission services and other services for communications networks.

Ensures that the Trust get best value from contracts by negotiation with suppliers for regional implementation. Ensures a consistent approach to the use of SLAs across the region.

Monitoring and reviewing performance, throughput, availability and exceptional incidents and proposing and implementing consequent improvements.

Responsible for negotiating, reviewing and renewal of contracts and SLAs with key suppliers.

Monitoring suppliers performance against contracts and SLAs and taking appropriate action in the event of failure to deliver services agreed levels.

Liaising with suppliers technical personnel with regard to problem resolution in the event of service or component failure.

Responsible for the negotiation and implementation of local SLAs where appropriate.

Responsible for maintaining the risk register for the IT Infrastructure and organising work intended to mitigate the risks wherever possible.

Management of all IT systems to ensure accurate and timely gathering of data about performance with regard to utilisation and errors.

In partnership with other Trust managers ensures that the It Infrastructure performance is monitored on a regular basis and that corrective action is taken where appropriate.

Ensures the appropriate level of IT on call is maintained across the department to support the technical delivery and resilience.

Responsible for implementing escalation procedures for IT faults and that its performance is monitored on a regular basis.

### Experience

- Experience of policy formation and procedures in relation to IM&T services
- Experience of working within an IT environment
