The London Ambulance Service (LAS) depends on highly available, reliable, sustainable, cost-effective digital services to support the delivery of urgent and emergency care. To ensure that digital & data services are appropriately evaluated and designed to support LAS in providing an excellent digital experience for our staff and outstanding care for our patients.

Working within the Digital & Data Directorate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The Head of Architecture is the principal expert specialist and owner of the Digital Architecture Department. Accountable for ensuring that the technology design and roadmaps for digital and data services and standards developed across the Trust, are mapped to and enable the Trust strategy, business needs and long-term plan. Along with ownership of definition and development of Digital Architectural delivery capability resources, processes, standards and tools.

The role is critical to the Trust to ensure digital alignment with Trust strategic goals, standardisation of products and services, governance and compliance with architecture processes and principles.

### Main duties of the job

To be the principal specialist and owner of the Digital Architecture Department, accountable for:

- Providing appropriate leadership and governance of Digital Architecture services, policies, mandates, processes, procedures and reports and the operation of the Architecture Review Board.
- Identifying the Trust’s current business and technology architectures and developing joined up target architectures and long-term technology roadmaps for all business areas of the Trust to achieve the digital transformation required to realise the Trust’s future vision.
- The design of information, software and infrastructure systems and services across all LAS functions using standardised principles so that they support the roadmaps and are appropriately available, resilient and secure.
- Collating and providing structured design and architectural information to help manage and change the digital environment and information the Trust uses.
- Ensure business requirements are reviewed, interpreted and respond to, ensuring alignment between customer expectations and future digital capabilities.
- The improvement and monitoring of Architecture services against a recognised Architecture Maturity Model and Standards.
- Providing architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to staff and managers in and outside Digital & Data.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of frameworks and standards for solution architecture such as IEEE 1016-2009
- Creating a clear vision and supporting the translation of business intelligence into operational plans
- Able to work across professional and organisational boundaries with highly developed negotiation and influencing skills

### Experience

**Essential**

- Extensive specialist experience of technology design and roadmaps
- Demonstrable recent and relevant Senior Management level experience within a large organisation in a Senior Enterprise or Technical Architect role.

### Qualifications, Accreditations, Education

**Essential**

- Educated to Master’s degree level in IT related subject or equivalent extensive senior technical management experience within an IT department
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation level qualified
- TOGAF: Foundation 9.2 or 10
