At James Paget University Hospital, we have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and inspirational Pharmacy leader to join us as our Head of Clinical Pharmacy Services. This is a pivotal role at a time of significant transformation, offering the chance to influence how services evolve in response to changes in pharmacy education and training, workforce challenges, and the development of our new hospital.

The Clinical Pharmacy Service at James Paget is highly respected, with Pharmacists working closely alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding patient care. Working with the Chief Pharmacist, you will lead the development of clinical pharmacy services across the Trust, driving innovation, service improvement, and excellence in patient care.

We are seeking a Senior Pharmacist with experience in Clinical Pharmacy and people management who is passionate about improving patient outcomes and delivering high-quality, safe services. You will have a proven track record of leadership, service improvement, and influencing change within complex healthcare environments.

You will be a visible role model with excellent communication, organisational, leadership, and governance skills, bringing the vision, ambition, and strategic thinking needed to help shape the future of Pharmacy services at our Hospital.

### Main duties of the job

- To be the lead pharmacist for the Clinical Pharmacy Service working with the Divisions of the Trust.
- To manage clinical pharmacists who provide a Clinical Pharmacy Service to a ward/department, and hold responsibility for the provision of their appraisals and co-ordinating the clinical professional development of all pharmacists allocated to the clinical Pharmacy service.
- To develop and manage a high quality and progressive clinical Pharmacy service for the Trust to support the modernisation of Pharmacy and medicines optimisation services and meet the aims and objectives of local, regional and national standards such as the CQC and GPhC in the Trust’s Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Strategy.
- To be oversee the provision of reporting to the various specialties and divisions within the Trust on prescribing. This would include the production of financial reports, providing interpretation of expenditure on medicines and working with specialties to improve prescribing practice and reduction of expenditure.
- To liaise with medical, nursing and other staff in the provision of the above objectives.
- To assist in the provision of training within the Pharmacy Department.
- To manage all annual leave, study leave etc. of Pharmacists, and to provide a ward rota for all pharmacists on a weekly basis ensuring clinical areas are prioritised/covered.

- Advanced Clinical Pharmacy Skills and Knowledge in Practice
- Knowledge of national guidelines relating to medicines commissioning and medicines optimisation
- Project management skills

- Budget management experience
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans
- Research and development experience

### Education and Qualifications

**Essential**

- MPharm or equivalent degree
- Pharmacist registered with GPhC
- Post-graduate certificate and diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience

**Desirable**

- Relevant specialist post-graduate training
- Registered Independent Prescriber (or working towards)
- Management/Supervisory certificate or diploma
