The HCA is expected to undertake care to meet the needs of the patients under the supervision of a qualified nurse, working within the Trust’s policies and procedures and the philosophy of the ward. Working collaboratively as part of the ward team. It is expected that the Health Care Assistant will continue to develop their own capabilities and knowledge of nursing tasks in line with the Trust’s career pathway ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities - Testing blood sugars, urine and stool specimens & accurately record results - Removal of male/female indwelling urethral catheters - Obtain specimens & process specimens to the laboratory - Provide pressure area care to patients - Provide care to patients who are dying - Inspect & accurately record the condition of patient’s skin integrity, appropriately escalating concerns - Able to prepare equipment for aseptic procedures as instructed - Taking and recording of temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and pain scores on instruction from the Registered Nurse.
