### Job summary

As a GPwER in Gynaecology, you will deliver high-quality assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients referred with a range of common gynaecological conditions. Working autonomously within agreed clinical pathways, you will provide specialist care closer to patients' homes while maintaining excellent communication with primary and secondary care colleagues.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise and further develop your specialist gynaecology skills within a supportive, patient-centred community service.

### Main duties of the job

- Conduct specialist gynaecology consultations within a Tier 2 community service.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients presenting with common gynaecological conditions.
- Carry out appropriate clinical procedures in accordance with service protocols.
- Develop and implement management plans and provide patient education and advice.
- Identify patients requiring onward referral to secondary care services.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and audit activities.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across primary and secondary care.

### Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide assessment and management for patients presenting with:

- Irregular uterine bleeding
- Intermenstrual bleeding
- Primary and secondary amenorrhoea (less complex cases)
- Dysmenorrhoea (mild to moderate)
- Oligomenorrhoea
- Vulval itching and vulval atrophy (mild cases)
- Superficial dyspareunia
- Reduced libido (less complex presentations)

The role will involve undertaking and managing:

- Mirena coil fitting, removal, and replacement for contraception and management of heavy menstrual bleeding
- Difficult cervical smear procedures
- Ring and shelf pessary fitting, removal, and replacement for the conservative management of prolapse

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Fully qualified and GMC-registered General Practitioner with a licence to practise.
- Evidence of extended role training and experience in Gynaecology.
- Demonstrable experience managing common gynaecological conditions independently.
- Competence in fitting and removing Mirena coils.
- Competence in pessary fitting and management.
- Experience performing difficult cervical screening procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to patient-centred care and clinical excellence.
- Understanding of clinical governance and safeguarding responsibilities.

**Desirable**

- Previous experience working within a community gynaecology service or Tier 2 pathway.
- Experience participating in service development, audit, or quality improvement initiatives.
