### Job overview

The Associate Dean (Primary Care) will support the Primary Care Dean and GP School in setting the strategic direction and development of clinical and professional education in Primary Care across the multi-professional primary care workforce within the Midlands.

This post will have specific patch Associate Dean responsibilities for GP postgraduate training across Derbyshire, providing senior educational leadership and oversight for the Derby and Chesterfield GP Specialty Training Programmes (GPSTPs). The postholder will work closely with local Training Programme Directors, GP practices, programme teams and other stakeholders to support the quality, delivery and development of GP training across the Derbyshire patch.

We are looking to recruit to 2 session’s permanent.

Remuneration will be at GP03 point of national GP educator pay scale.

### Main duties of the job

- Support with all aspects of Midlands Primary Care workforce development, including finding innovative workforce solutions and advising on the commissioning of education for primary care.
- Provide senior educational leadership and oversight for GP postgraduate training across the Derbyshire patch, encompassing the Derby and Chesterfield GP Specialty Training Programmes.
- Work closely with local Training Programme Directors and programme teams to support the effective delivery, quality management and development of GP training across Derbyshire, including responding to significant trainee, trainer or placement issues where senior educational input is required.
- Responsibility for implementing innovative strategies of delivery and the evaluation of high-quality primary care education and training in NHSE Midlands.
- Key role in supporting the commissioning, transformation, and quality management of multi professional primary care education and training in accordance with the standards set by NHSE and regulators.
- Be a key member of the GP School Team and deputise as requested. The role and responsibilities will overlap with, and complement the other members of the senior team, requiring flexibility in working practices.

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Clear understanding and evidence of involvement in delivery and management of healthcare education and training.

- Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years.
- Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Registered Medical or Dental Practitioner with a current licence to practise or hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (or equivalent) in Public Health (for roles in School of Public Health)
- Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty or professional association.
- Applicants should either work in NHS clinical practice (or similar setting) or should have previously undertaken clinical practice within the last 2 years prior to the intended start date of the role
- Applicants, regardless of professional background, must have a track record of professionalism in line with the principles set out in Good Medical Practice and compatible with appointment in a senior clinical educator role.
- Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development.
- Active involvement in, and up to date with, NHS appraisal processes

**Desirable**

- Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma or Master’s in education.
