### Job overview

The post holder will:

- Support the SNA initiative and promote the value of the role organisationally
- Provide a comprehensive and effective continuing professional development framework in the workplace in order to support and facilitate SNA to practice a high standard of safe compassionate patient care
- Assist to support newly registered NA to meet Preceptorship standards
- Support the SNA to meet Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and apprenticeship standards
- Work collaboratively with SNA partners (AEI), practice supervisors, practice assessor, preceptors and managers) to promote a culture of staff support, as well as the development of clinical excellence and competency in evidence-based, safe and professional practice

### Main duties of the job

- Enable through support all SNA to meet Trust & local objectives during their Foundation degree programme and the preceptorship period (6 months – 12 months post-registration) in order to become confident, competent accountable practitioner.
- Support the clinical areas to ensure that Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor/Preceptor are identified and allocated equitably in time for the SNA start date
- Working clinically will enable an overview of the progress of individual SNA and identifying any development/support needs of Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor/ Preceptor. As well as completing supporting practice assessment document (PAD), preceptorship development books, as well as skills and competency documents. Intervening when milestones are not being met and liaising as required to better target/direct support.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Be accountable for own practice, as well as be able to challenge practice of others
- Take personal responsibility for self-development, NMC revalidation requirements, maintenance of own professional competence and awareness of current clinical and professional issues.
- Manage own time/diary by scheduling appointments/meetings/teaching to maximise the use of available resources
- Work proactively in creating an environment where change can be initiated, supported and evaluated
- Maintain clear and effective communication with a variety of individuals and groups both internally and externally
- Support the monitoring of compliance with NMC standards and SNA proficiencies
- Support the monitoring of compliance of NA preceptorship with CN framework (2017) and remaining up to date with new developments.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Post registration clinical experience in adult nursing at Band 5 and 6
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Knowledge of Nursing Associate role, practice assessor and supervisors’ role and competency assessment
- Ability to facilitate/teach at clinical level delivering evidence based practice
- Excellent communication skills

**Desirable**

- Demonstrate effective methods of implementing change
